Frequently asked questions

Provenance

Where does your beef come from?

We source our beef from a number of German and Dutch farms that comply with the EU higher welfare standards.

Why don’t you use British beef?

We’re working on it. We’re always trying to improve the provenance and sustainability of our product - watch this space!

Can I give a bar to my children?

Yes certainly. However please be aware that some of our bars contain nuts so if your little one struggles with chewing this may be a choking hazard. Also, it’s worth noting that our bars do contain sea salt, but the levels of this ingredient in our products are considerably less than most other packaged meat products.

method

Is your beef grass-fed?

Yes! All of our cows are out in the pasture free to graze for at least 60% of their lives. This is only limited by weather conditions.

How do you make the bars?

You can’t rush quality… Our bars are hand made and gently air-dried over 12 hours using a traditional process.

Are there any preservatives in the bars?

Nope! We spent two years in development to make sure we didn’t need to use any artificial preservatives you’d normally find in meat bars.

Occasion

How often can I eat a Roam bar?

As often as you like. Our bars are great as a convenient snack, added to a salad, or part of a cheeseboard. Tag us in your pictures on Instagram using #ROAMaround to show us how you like yours.

Is it good after a workout?

Evidence suggests that a mixed meal consisting of protein and carbohydrate helps to aid recovery, and facilitate the development of muscle mass. Try using Roam as the protein source and pairing it with fruit or rice as the carbohydrate for the gains!

Ingredients

Are there any hidden ingredients?

Definitely not! All of our ingredients are front and centre of our packaging. We wanted to make a bar that used ingredients that most people have in their cupboards at home.

Why is there whey protein in the bars?

We wanted to make a bar using completely natural ingredients that competed for protein content with the synthetic bars on the market. We used whey to give ours a boost.

What is Chicory root fibre syrup?

Chicory root syrup is made from the root of the chicory plant. It’s a very mild low GI sweetener and a great source of fibre.

Shelf life/storage

What’s the shelf life on a Roam bar?

The bars should have a minimum of two months shelf life upon purchasing. From the date of manufacture, our bars last for 12 months. We recommend you always check the best before date when eating.

Do I need to refrigerate my bar?

No…Our bars are just fine in the cupboard away from direct sunlight.

What if I open the bar and don’t finish it… Can I save it for later?

Definitely! We recommend leaving it in the fridge once opened and finish consuming within 48 hours.

What’s with the little white square in the packet with the bar?

This is an oxygen absorber made from iron and carbon. It helps keep our bars nice and fresh. No, you cannot eat this. Whilst this may pose a choking hazard, if a child was to ingest this unknowingly please phone your GP for caution, but do not panic, its contents are completely natural!
